The plan of the plan

I want 2015 to be a huge year for my photography business and I’ve planned to. I made a chart of all my commercial photography goals for this year split between financial, work demand, social networking and website traffic goals. This .ai chart will be made downloadable so you can take my model and just change the data in it. If you don’t have Illustrator, let me know and I’ll be glad to upload it in another file format. If you plan on sharing it, please refer to this blog post with a link. Thanks!

Not that we got that out of the way, place to the graphic!

First of all, in order to cover for the low days, I added 20% to the year goal. For example, $7000/year from my photography business is $583/month, add 20% and you get $700.

I think that $7000 for this year really is achievable. To do so I plan on using direct mail marketing to potential clients and fellow photographers. A physical handwritten note is always much better than a bunch of the same lame emails sent to multiple persons at once. I plan on keeping the people I already approached not forgetting me by keeping in touch with them via personal emails, mail and social networks.

That brings me to the second aspect of my plan which is social networks. Twitter, precisely. I hope to get a total of 500 followers and 700 Tweets by December 31st, 2015. I believe this to be the easiest part of the bunch. On daily basis, I need to obtain 11 new followers per 7 days and a modest 2 Tweets per day.

Into the actual work part of the plan. I consider honest to think I can have 5 new clients in 2015. Those clients should bring at least 10 new projects. It doesn’t need to be 2 shoots per clients; any way I get a minimum of 10 is good. Furthermore, I’d like to collect 20 days of assistance. Me assisting another photographer. It arrives at 1.6 days/month. After adding 20%, the total is 2 days per 4 weeks. Again, the plan here is to get my name out there by quality, personal and physical mail material, being present on social medias and also direct emails. I will strive to be the best assistant possible by being hard working, forward thinking and really helpful. To me, the best way to have repetitive business from a client is to fastly deliver quality work. Don’t make them wait two weeks for it.

Finally, for the website (the one you’re one right now!), I would like to get at least three months with 300 visits. That means I should be getting 12 visits everyday of that period. Of course, these months will tend to be either in the summer (where I don’t have school) or toward the end of 2015 where I’ll be bigger. The rest of the year would hopefully see 150 visits per month, or 6/day. My hope is to earn 2250 visits for this year. To continue, 100 is a good number for the  blogs. SEO talking, I aim to receive 200 externals backlinks to or any webpage cascading from it. The achieve that, I need 5 of these per week. I honestly expect this to be the hardest of my goals as the blogs or images need to be so good that they impress someone enough that they directly share it.

All in all, that was pretty much a brain dump for my commercial photography goals for the year 2015. If you would have anything to add, don’t be shy and let me know. Use the chart as much as you’d like.
