I’ve wanted to do this kind of imagery for a while now. I just love seeing all of the items from a kit frozen in the air. There’s a certain energy to it and the feel is really nice.

You can see below the quick and dirty plan I drafted before I started shooting for this image. Having a plan is really useful and indispensable as it gives a clear way as to where to go and what to do in order to accomplish the photo you had in mind.

All of the items were photographed individually and then worked on in Capture One Pro 8.3.1. Some other were focus stacked using Zerene Stacker while others were manually stacked in Photoshop. Finally, some colour work, dodging and burning, doing some frequency separation and other techniques were applied to the image inside of Photoshop.

I really like this image. I’m thinking of doing one with a Rotring 600 mechanical pencil!

Cheers,

Tristan
