If you’re shooting for your portfolio, you usually try to keep your images at a standard aspect ratio. Me, I like using 11 by 14 if the shot is vertical and 22 by 14 if it’s in an horizontal mode.
To help me retouch faster, I made a Photoshop action that selects the Crop tool and inputs a 22 by 14 crop when I press the F5 key. If you’re not happy with the position of the crop, just click on the image and you will have the opportunity to satisfy your cropping taste. I also made another action that does the same but crops at 11 by 14 instead. You need to press Shift + F5 in order to activate this one.
